ABOUT THIS PHOTO:

Fishing by cormorant on the Lijiang River has a history of hundreds of years. In the past, there were several ways of fishing by cormorant.

In the daytime, the fisherman encloses fish by casting a net and then letting the cormorants dive into the water to catch the fish.

Stay at a pool of Lijiang River and just let cormorant fish for them.

The last method is the most interesting. As night is coming on, they travel on their bamboo rafts in a group with torches on the bow of the raft, shouting to attract the fish school into their encirclement. Then the trained cormorant jumped into the river to catch the fish.
