ABOUT THIS PHOTO:

Temple of the Emerald Buddha is actually made of green jade, not emerald. It is clothed in gold and about 45 centimeters (17 inches) tall. The Emerald Buddha is revered as one of the most important representations of the Buddha in all of Buddhism. The Emerald Buddha was enshrined in Wat Phra Kaew temple in 1782 during Rama I's reign (1782–1809).
